"For the Fogeys"

Where I'm at in my life, there is so much emphasis on my future and what I will do. In our society we often don't have the same respect for what people have already done.
I wanted to create a model of what it looks like to return that respect to an aging generation and ask them about their life.
The time we have with our older loved ones is finite, and the stories we will regret not hearing are often only a question away...
I was fortunate enough to be selected for a fellowship in the Youth Documentary Academy in 2025. The YDA is a Colorado Springs-based non profit that selects 12 young filmmakers every year and trains them in the art of documentary filmmaking. In the summer of 2025, I spent months in classes learning about documentary story structure, how to use industry standard equipment, and how to listen as an empathetic interviewer.
At the end of the program, I directed and co-edited my 15 minute documentary, "For the Fogeys", all about the lives of my elder mentors and the struggles of their aging process.
The film premiered in November of 2025 in front of 450 people at Colorado College, and has since been selected for film festivals and screening events across the nation.
The film continues to have legs as it is reviewed for submission by more film festivals and further screening opportunities develop.

"Senioritis"
2026
Towards the end of my senior year of high school, I experienced the fatigue and burnout of the phenomenon that modern culture has dubbed 'senioritis.'
'Senioritis' is a light-hearted, joking term to describe the burnout at the end of high school or college. But as scholarship applications, sports, friends, and an increasing homework load all competed for my time, to me 'senioritis' didn't feel like something light-hearted or to be joked about at all.
So, I created this film to capture the stress of what I felt as a high school senior, and show what causes the onset of 'senioritis.'
"The Twilight Zone: A Modern Reinterpretation"

Theater students can see a dozen different productions of the same script in a single year, and have the opportunity to learn from the experience by evaluating the choices different directors make given the same written text.
When a film comes out, it is often the only interpretation that comes out of a script. Film students don't have the same experience of evaluating different director's choices to learn what works best.
So, I blindly directed my own adaptation of the pilot episode of the 1959 series "The Twilight Zone." I created a new model of film education, where students can compare the original version to my take and evaluate the directorial choices. More info upon request, workshops available.
"The NOte"
2025
"The Note" is a short film done completely in one take. I became interested in the notoriously difficult task of shooting a 'Oner' and challenged myself to tell a complete story arc in a single take.
I shot the film in my high school study hall, and submitted it in some of my college applications. The film helped me get into top-ranked UT-Austin's 'Radio, Film, and TV' program, among others. Thank you to all of my classmates who participated!!
